TECHTRON® (PPS)
Techtron® (PPS)
Techtron® is a semi-crystalline polyphenylene sulfide (PPS). PPS generally has a relatively high degree of crystallization and thus a good mechanical strength, but is in the unfilled state hard and brittle. Therefore, glass- or mineral fiber-filled as well as tribologically modified grades that are easier to process.
PPS, with its continuous operating temperature of up to 240°C and its exceptional chemical resistance a relatively inexpensive and widely used high-performance plastic, which has been used with good success in certain applications instead of the significantly more expensive PEEK can be used.
Main features
• high corrosion and chemical resistance
• good mechanical strength
• heat distortion temperature up to 230°C
Due to its properties, PPS is often used for various static and dynamic components used in the food industry and in semiconductor manufacturing. In particular, the fiber-reinforced and simultaneously tribologically optimized Techtron® HPV is characterized by a balanced property profile. It exhibits both good sliding and wear properties as well as high mechanical strength.
