NYLASINT®
Nylasint®
Nylasint® is an open-pore, sintered thermoplastic special material based on polyamide, which is characterized by a particularly low specific weight and relatively high mechanical strength.
Due to its open-cell structure and chemical composition, Nylasint® can absorb liquids containing oil and release them again evenly over a longer period of time. For this reason, Nylasint® is used in particular as a body for so-called "ink rolls" in high-speed printing units, e.g. for labeling packaging with expiry dates.
In addition, due to its comparatively high mechanical strength, Nylasint® is also used for self-lubricating sliding elements or ball bearing cages soaked in oil, such as those found in long-running, technically self-sufficient systems, e.g. space satellites.
As standard, only the material type Nylasint® 64 HV is currently available. This type offers the following advantages:
- open-porous structure
- able to absorb media containing oil
- high compressive strength
- good machinability
- corresponds to the BAe Material Specification MS 1007
Nylasint® is available as a machined finished part or fully assembled ink roll and - with restrictions - also as a semi-finished product or slug.
