Injection moulding
If technical components are required in large quantities, injection moulding technology is of considerable economic advantage. Especially with high-performance plastics, the injection moulding process can be economical even for smaller quantities (from 250 to 500 pieces) due to the possible material savings.
A further advantage of injection moulding technology is that components with a complex geometry can be produced extremely economically with larger production quantities using an appropriate mould. In addition, there is the possibility of flow path design, with which the material properties can be aligned under certain conditions.
However, there are some restrictions which must be observed. First of all, only thermoplastically processable plastics can be used in injection moulding; injection moulding of PTFE, PI and PBI as well as PE-UHMW is therefore not possible!
