NORMS AND STANDARDS FOR HIGH-PERFORMANCE PLASTICS
(continued)
Polyetherimide (PEI) – Ultem®
DIN 65498 - Semi-finished products and molded parts made of PEI
ASTM D 5205 - Standard Classification System for PEI Materials
ASTM D 7293 - Standard Test Method for Extruded and Compression-Molded Shapes PEI
Polyimide (PI) – Vespel®
ASTM 6456 - Standard Specification for Finished Parts Made from Polyimide Resin
SAE AMS 3644G - Polyimide, Molded Rod, Bar, and Tube, Plaque, and formed Parts
SAE AMS-P-46112 - Plastic Sheet and Strip, Polyimide
It must always be checked in each individual case whether the material required meets the demands made. Deliveries with appropriate material certificates are the rule in this area. The high-performance plastics listed below meet most requirements and have already proven themselves in many aerospace applications.
- Ultem® 1000 (PEI) – for insulation applications
- Ultem® 2300 (PEI GF30)– for insulation applications with higher mechanical loads
- Torlon® 4203 (PAI) – for mechanically and thermally loaded components
- Torlon® 5030 (PAI GF30) – for structural components subject to higher thermal and mechanical loads
- Torlon® 7130 (PAI CF30) – for thermally and mechanically heavily loaded components
- Vespel® SP 1 (PI) – for high temperature applications, high material purity
- Vespel® SCP 5000 (PI) – for even more heavily loaded high temperature applications
- Vespel® SCP 5050 (PI GR) – for high temperature applications with little expansion
