Design and construction advices
When designing components for bio-, pharmaceutical and medical technology - in addition to the discussed approval restrictions and compatibility requirements for the material - the general instructions for design with plastics must be taken into account. Furthermore, we expressly point out that the components manufactured by us and the materials required for them are not suitable for use as or in or on medical or dental implants.
The surface quality is important for the use of components for bio-, pharmaceutical and medical technology. Rough surfaces as well as gaps, cracks and suchlike must be carefully avoided to prevent the penetration and sticking of dirt or bio-residues. In this sense, sharp-edged corners should also be avoided and replaced by sufficiently large radii.
With regard to hygiene requirements, it must also be checked whether the selected plastics can withstand both the cleaning and sterilisation processes used and the liquids and secretions that come into contact with them. We refer here to the statements made regarding resistance to chemicals and sterilisation.
